sweetmusic_27: A biohazard symbol (biohazard)

Sooo. Wednesday night a week ago, [livejournal.com profile] benet and I took a cab to the 2:30 AM bus to O'Hare, took the CTA train to Union Station, ate McDonald's breakfast, got on the 8:30 AM Amtrak train to Ann Arbor, met up with [livejournal.com profile] peteralway and Cat Faber, and the four of us carpooled to Mississauga.

Highlights, in something like chronological order:

-Met up with Michael, best man at our wedding and all-around awesome guy. He schlepped out to Mississauga, we had lunch and caught up.

-Rehearsed with Urban Tapestry. Not five minutes after we'd started playing, a small sketch of a squirrel playing a violin was slid under the door. Turns out, these mysterious sketches had been showing up all day and this was only the most recent one. Curiouser and curiouser! Who was it? None of us had any idea, but we thought it must be the folks next door. I, of course, had completely forgotten the room number of my carpool-mates. XD Yep, turns out it was [livejournal.com profile] peteralway! I never figured it out, actually. Peter had to reveal to me that it was "Cat's roomate." And I was like, "Huh! Wait, who was Cat's... Oh!" *facepalm* I'm kinda gullible.

-Took an exceptionally pleasant nap, and awoke just in time to catch all but the first song of the Toyboat concert. Awesome as usual, but it was even more awesome to see folks' reactions.

-Then it was off to Heather Dale's theme filk, which was about places you've lived. There was an argle-blargle-off and I sung the first verse of the Anacraeontic Hymn.

-Then, Saturday! And the Urban Tapestry Concert. It went well! I made the violin face, as I always do, and was also Happy Fiddler. I especially enjoyed the Captain Picard song - it was proptastic!

-Playing This is a Title by [livejournal.com profile] lemmozine; I think it was more unified than it usually is, but overall it was hilarious.

-Suburban Travesty! XD

-Heather Dale's concert was great, of course. And she ended with an encore- Road to Santiago, which I love despite having had it stuck in my head for a week straight once last fall.

-Dinner with Brooke! I usually end up on some sort of Dinner Run when I'm at a con - they're awesome, but usually pretty populous, so it was a rare treat to eat (and draw) with a crowd of two. Cons are hungry work, apparently - we were able to clean our giant plates and have a giant dessert! <3

-Another nap!

-Another theme filk, with UT this time! Again, I stayed in Alderwood, and was treated to some awesome music. I only stayed up 'till about two, though, and ended by cutting in and doing a hammishly long set.

-Then, Sleep and Sunday. I woke up early, had breakfast, went to UT's Filk Confidence workshop, and tiptoed out about a minute before it was over so Benet and I could get to the TTC station to get to lunch with Jeremy, Stephanie, and Ned, Benet's brother and sister-in-law and our nephew. We presented Ned with Octonauts and he was pleased, and then we all went to brunch. Two breakfasts in one day? Awesome!

-And then, of course, was the dead dog. It wasn't very guitarish so I didn't do a lot of playing along, but the listening was lovely.

-Our friend Catherine came over, and we were able to do some catching up before zonking out like zonked zonkers.

-6 AM Monday, time to go! Despite the snow, we made it back to Michigan alright, and the train station, and the bus, and the cab.

This post has been brought to you by the number twenty-seven, the exclamation point, and other people's helpful and photographictastic posts.

I had a great time, and cannot wait to see y'all at the next con. (Also, DucKon is going to be seriously amazing. Evil plans are already in the offing.)
